Commitment to Community Our community programs are our lifeblood. CKP is devoted to providing literary arts programming to people in communities where they live and work. Authors join CKP in offering at least 3 free outreach events annually. Furthering this cooperative spirit, they volunteer their support for fundraising, committee service, reading manuscripts, and more. Presenting Poetry & Prose makes a part of the fabric of people’s daily lives through free poetry readings, discussions and workshops. For more information go to PP&P. Giftbooks brings free copies of CavanKerry titles where they are most needed: community centers, public schools, prisons, and more. For more information, go to Giftbooks. The Waiting Room Reader is CavanKerry’s most recent addition to its GiftBooks project., and an extension of the LaurelBooks: Literature of Illness and Disability imprint, which is co-sponsored by The Arnold P.Gold Foundation for the Advancement of Humanism in Medicine. The Lianna Foundation’s generous support has made this venture possible. The Waiting Room Reader showcases poetry and prose selected from the works of CavanKerry authors. Compiled as one handsome volume, the Reader is offered free of charge to hospitals and doctors to then distribute to their patients, their families and loved ones. The first edition, Stories to Keep You Company, is complete and available for selected locations. Partnering with us in LaurelBooks: The Literature of Illness is the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for the Advancement of Humanism in Medicine (www.humanism-in-medicine.org). Together we bring LaurelBooks and their authors to medical communities across the country.
